Rippling Pricing 2026: Per-Employee Cost and Every Add-On, Graded by Source

By Ken Hayashi Prices checked October 4, 2026
Quick answer

Rippling's pricing page shows no prices, only a quote form. Rippling's other pages do give some figures: $8 per user per month for the platform plus a $40 monthly base fee, U.S. payroll at $8 per employee per month billed annually ($10 billed monthly), and Employer of Record from $499 per employee per month. With HR and payroll only, that comes to about $440/month for 25 employees. Rippling's own estimate for a 100-person company that adds benefits and time tracking is $15–$25 per employee per month. Add global payroll, IT, and spend tools and it's $30–$50+.

Several add-on prices that circulate online, such as $5 for benefits, $2 for time tracking, and $325 for Contractor of Record, could not be found on rippling.com when we checked. The rate card below marks which figures are Rippling's own and which are secondhand.

Most Rippling pricing articles give one range, usually "$8 to $35 per employee," and don't say where the numbers come from. That doesn't help much when you're building a budget for finance or checking a quote. In this guide, every price is tagged with its source: Rippling's own published pages, buyer transaction data, or third-party estimates we couldn't confirm. We then use only the verifiable numbers to work out costs at 10, 25, 50, 100, and 200 employees.

If you're still choosing between vendors and haven't started on pricing, read our Rippling vs Gusto for startups comparison first. This article assumes you're already looking at Rippling and need to know what it will cost.

How Rippling's pricing works

Rippling is sold in modules. Rippling's pricing FAQ says each HR, Finance, and IT product "can be purchased separately—alongside the core, required Rippling Platform," and that most products are "billed on a simple per-employee, per-month basis," though "some may be charged at (or include) a monthly basis fee." In practice, the bill has three parts:

  1. A required platform layer (sometimes called Rippling Unity or Core HRIS): employee records, onboarding, org chart, documents, permissions, and reporting. This comes with a flat monthly base fee.
  2. Per-employee module fees for each product you turn on, such as Payroll, Benefits Administration, Time & Attendance, Device Management, or Expense Management.
  3. Per-worker global services priced separately and much higher: Employer of Record, Global Payroll, contractor payments, and Contractor of Record.

Rippling's small-business page says "there is no minimum headcount requirement, and you only pay for the products you actually use." So a three-person company can buy Rippling. The flat base fee just makes up a larger share of the bill at small headcounts.

Most of the grade-C figures can be traced to Gusto's guide to Rippling pricing, which calls them "company-published starting references." We searched Rippling's product pages, pricing FAQ, and its own review and comparison posts and could not find them. Gusto is a direct competitor, and Rippling may have changed its pages since. Treat these as plausible list prices and ask your Rippling rep to confirm them on the order form.

Rippling's own pages give different numbers
  • The base fee: the small-business page says "$8 per user per month… Plus, a $40 per month base fee." Rippling's HRIS review says "$8 per employee per month, with a base fee of $35 per employee per month." A base fee is charged per month, not per employee, so "per employee" is almost certainly a typo. The $35 vs $40 difference is still unexplained.
  • What the $8 covers: the same small-business page says plans "start at $8 per user per month for payroll," while the payroll review prices payroll separately at $8–$10 on top of $8 core HRIS. Your quote will settle this. Check whether payroll appears as its own line.
  • "Per user" vs "per employee": Rippling uses both terms. Ask whether contractors, terminated employees still being processed, and EOR workers count toward the platform fee.

What Rippling costs at 10, 25, 50, 100, and 200 employees

The table below uses only grade-A numbers: the $40 base fee, $8 platform per person, and $8 payroll per person billed annually. This is the lowest realistic bill for HR plus U.S. payroll with nothing else turned on. Formula: $40 + (headcount × $8) + (headcount × $8).

HeadcountHR + payroll, annual billingPer yearMonthly billing ($10 payroll)Effective PEPM (annual)
10$200/mo$2,400$220/mo$20.00
25$440/mo$5,280$490/mo$17.60
50$840/mo$10,080$940/mo$16.80
100$1,640/mo$19,680$1,840/mo$16.40
200$3,240/mo$38,880$3,640/mo$16.20

At 10 employees the $40 base fee adds $4 per person. At 200 it adds $0.20, so effective cost per employee drops as headcount grows. None of these figures include implementation, benefits premiums, hardware, or taxes.

Most companies need more than HR and payroll, so here is the same calculation for a 50-person U.S. company adding IT and spend tools, again using only grade-A prices:

Illustrative monthly bill · 50 U.S. employees
Base fee$40
Platform / HRIS · 50 × $8$400
U.S. Payroll (annual billing) · 50 × $8$400
Identity & Access Management · 50 × $8$400
Device Management · 50 × ~$8~$400
Expense Management · 50 × $14$700
Total (~$46.80 per employee)~$2,340/mo
Benefits administration, time tracking, and recruiting are not included because their prices are unconfirmed or quote-only. At the reported $5 and $2 rates, benefits and time tracking would add about $350/mo. These are list prices before any discount; Vendr reports buyers commonly get 10–25% off with multi-year terms.

At this point Rippling's per-employee cost is far above its $8 starting price, and it lands in the same range Rippling gives for full setups. Rippling's own HRIS review says a 100-employee company running HRIS, Payroll, Benefits Admin, and Time & Attendance should expect about $15–$25 per employee per month, and that "more complex setups with global payroll, IT management, and spend management can run $30–50+ per employee monthly." Vendr's buyer data shows similar ranges: $15–$35 PEPM for 10–50 employees, $20–$40 for 50–250, and $25–$50+ above 250.

Stacked bar chart of a 50-employee Rippling bill: $40 base fee, $400 HRIS, $400 payroll, $400 identity management, about $400 device management and $700 expense management, totaling about $2,340 per month
How the 50-person bill builds up. HR and payroll make up only about a third of it.

Add-on modules, one at a time

U.S. Payroll: $8 or $10 per employee

This is the only add-on where Rippling publishes both billing options: $8 PEPM billed annually or $10 PEPM billed monthly, according to Rippling's 2026 payroll review. It includes federal, state, and local tax filing, W-2s and 1099s, and unlimited off-cycle runs in countries where Rippling runs payroll itself. Some third-party sources say annual contracts are "mandatory." The payroll review's monthly-billing price contradicts that, so if month-to-month matters to you, ask for the $10 option by name.

Benefits Administration and Time & Attendance

These are the two add-ons people ask about most, and the prices are the least clear. The figures in circulation are $5 PEPM for benefits and $2 PEPM for time tracking (Gusto's guide), about $4 for benefits (Pin), and $4–$6 for benefits plus $4–$8 for time tracking (Treegarden, which calls its own numbers "unconfirmed"). The benefits admin fee also doesn't include insurance premiums or broker compensation, and those cost much more than the software. Rippling's HRIS review mentions that "badge, fingerprint, and facial recognition may cost up to $190 per employee per month." That figure seems to refer to hardware-based time clocks rather than the standard module. If you need physical clock-in, ask for that line item specifically.

IT: Identity & Access and Device Management

Rippling's own reviews put Identity & Access Management at "$8 per user per month" and Device Management at "around $8 per user per month." For a tech company, these two can cost as much as HR and payroll combined. They are also the modules most often added after signing, which matters for pricing later (see hidden costs below).

Spend: Expense Management and Corporate Cards

In its expense management review, Rippling lists $14 PEPM for expense management and $8 PEPM for Corporate Cards, and recommends adding the core HRIS layer so approval rules can use org-chart data. If you only need expense reports, a standalone tool may cost less. If you also want reimbursements to flow into payroll automatically, running spend on Rippling's platform saves an integration.

Recruiting, LMS, Performance, PEO

All quote-only. Rippling's recruiting review lists Recruiting as "priced via quote," and we found no public number for PEO, Learning Management, Performance, Surveys, Headcount Planning, or Travel. For PEO in particular, a quote usually includes a per-employee admin fee plus the plan's insurance premiums, so compare total cost, not just the admin fee.

Global pricing: EOR, Global Payroll, and contractors

Global services are where Rippling's per-employee cost rises sharply, and where its pricing compares most directly with dedicated global-hiring vendors.

ServiceRipplingDeelRemote
EOR, per employee/moFrom $499 A$599 (month-to-month)$699
Contractor payments~$30–$35 C$49$29
Contractor of Record~$325 C$325From $325
Off-cycle runs in partner countries$50 per employee per runVaries; check each vendor's country terms

Deel and Remote prices from their official pricing pages, checked September 29–30, 2026.

Rippling's Rippling vs Deel guide says EOR starts "at $499 per employee, per month." That is cheaper than Deel and Remote on list price. Three things narrow the gap:

Rippling's own EOR roundup lists 80+ countries for its EOR, while its payroll review says workers can be paid in 185+ countries in 50+ currencies. These measure different things: countries where Rippling can be the legal employer versus countries it can send payments to. For the $499-vs-$599 comparison to mean anything, check that each of your hiring countries is on Rippling's EOR list.

For the cost model behind EOR fees, see EOR pricing models explained: flat fee vs percentage of payroll. If you're a startup comparing EOR vendors, see our best EOR for startups comparison, which covers minimums and deposits. If you mostly hire engineers abroad, our Deel vs Rippling for global engineering teams analysis covers more than price.

Example: 40 U.S. employees plus 3 EOR hires

Illustrative monthly bill · mixed U.S. + EOR team
Base fee$40
Platform · 40 U.S. × $8$320
U.S. Payroll (annual) · 40 × $8$320
EOR · 3 × $499$1,497
Platform on EOR workers · 3 × $8 (if billed)$24
Total before statutory costs~$2,201/mo
The three EOR hires account for about 68% of the software bill. Employer taxes, statutory benefits, and any deposit are paid on top, through the EOR invoice.

Hidden costs that don't appear in the per-employee price

Checklist of seven line items to get in writing on a Rippling quote: base fee amount, billing unit, payroll billing term, implementation fee, price for modules added later, renewal escalator cap, and EOR deposit and off-cycle fees
Seven items to get in writing before you sign a Rippling order form.
  1. Implementation. Rippling publishes no implementation fee. Vendr's buyer data puts standard implementations at $2,000–$5,000 and complex ones at $15,000+. If you're switching payroll mid-year, ask whether importing year-to-date payroll history is included. Rippling's pricing FAQ says its team "picks up your payroll right where your previous provider left off."
  2. Modules added after signing. Vendr notes that modules added mid-contract "often" come "at list pricing rather than the discounted rate negotiated upfront." If you expect to add IT or spend tools within a year, get those prices fixed now.
  3. Headcount growth. Per-employee fees go up as you hire. Some contracts include growth bands or true-ups; others bill new employees immediately. If you're hiring fast, negotiate how this works.
  4. Renewal increases. Pin.com reports renewal escalators of 5–7% a year on Rippling contracts. This comes from one vendor-side source, but asking for a written cap costs nothing.
  5. Global operations. The $50 off-cycle fee in partner countries, EOR deposits, and currency conversion should each be confirmed for your specific countries.
How big are actual Rippling contracts?

Articles citing Vendr's transaction data report a median annual Rippling contract of about $40,000 (Pin, from 235–240 purchases) to about $45,900 (Treegarden, from 278 purchases), with individual contracts from roughly $5,500 to $190,000. These figures come secondhand and from different sample periods. They give a rough sense of scale, not a benchmark for your quote.

Rippling vs Gusto on price at 25 employees

The intent we cover here, a full Rippling cost breakdown, often ends with the question "would Gusto be cheaper?" For a U.S.-only company, usually yes, at least on the first invoice. Gusto publishes all its plan prices and bills month-to-month. At 25 employees:

Setup (25 employees)MonthlyIncludes payroll?
Gusto Simple · $49 + 25 × $6$199Yes
Gusto Plus · $80 + 25 × $12$380Yes, plus time tracking
Rippling HR + payroll (grade-A floor)$440Yes
Gusto Premium · $180 + 25 × $22$730Yes, plus dedicated support

Gusto plan prices as listed in Gusto's own Rippling pricing guide (June 2026).

Rippling's starting bill costs about twice as much as Gusto Simple. The difference you're paying for is what comes after payroll: IT (identity and device management), spend, and global employment on the same employee record. If you won't use any of those within 12–18 months, the extra cost of Rippling is hard to justify. Our Rippling vs Gusto for startups comparison covers the decision by company stage. If you're comparing multi-country payroll tools more broadly, see best payroll software for international teams.

Rippling's pricing model: pros and cons

Pros

  • No minimum headcount; you pay only for the modules you turn on
  • EOR list price ($499) is below Deel and Remote
  • Payroll available on monthly billing at $10 PEPM
  • Effective cost per employee drops as headcount grows, because the base fee is flat

Cons

  • The pricing page shows no prices; most modules require a quote
  • Rippling's own pages disagree on the base fee ($35 vs $40)
  • Full setups often cost 2–4× the $8 starting price per employee
  • Implementation fees and renewal increases are not published

How to read a Rippling quote

When the order form arrives, compare it with the rate card above line by line:

If the quote's effective cost per employee is far outside Rippling's own $15–$25 (core HR stack) or $30–$50+ (global/IT/spend) ranges, ask which modules or support tier explain the difference. If you're comparing Rippling with dedicated global vendors, our Deel alternatives guide lists other quotes worth getting.

FAQ

How much does Rippling cost per employee in 2026?
The platform starts at $8 per user per month plus a $40 monthly base fee, according to Rippling's small-business page. U.S. payroll adds $8 per employee billed annually or $10 billed monthly. Rippling's own estimate for a 100-person company with HRIS, payroll, benefits, and time tracking is $15–$25 per employee per month, rising to $30–$50+ with global payroll, IT, and spend management.
Does Rippling have a minimum number of employees?
No. Rippling's small-business page states there is no minimum headcount requirement. The flat base fee adds about $4 per employee for a 10-person company, so effective cost per employee is highest at small headcounts.
How much is Rippling's Employer of Record per employee?
Rippling says its EOR starts at $499 per employee per month. Employer taxes, statutory benefits, any security deposit, and platform fees are charged separately. In countries where Rippling uses local payroll partners, off-cycle payroll runs cost $50 per employee per run.
Can you pay for Rippling monthly instead of annually?
For payroll, yes. Rippling's payroll review lists $10 per employee per month on monthly billing versus $8 on annual billing. Some third-party sources describe annual contracts as mandatory, so confirm the billing term for every module on your quote.
Why doesn't Rippling publish its prices?
Rippling's pricing FAQ says each product is bought separately on top of the required platform and that most are billed per employee per month. Because every customer picks a different set of modules, Rippling quotes each deal individually. The figures that are public are spread across its small-business page and its own product review posts, not the pricing page.

Methodology

On October 4, 2026, we fetched Rippling's pricing page, product pages (Payroll, Global Payroll, EOR, Contractor of Record, Global Contractors, PEO, HRIS, Corporate Cards, Bill Pay, Travel), small-business page, and its own review and comparison posts on rippling.com, and recorded every dollar figure Rippling states about its own products. Figures found on rippling.com are graded A. Ranges from Vendr's buyer-transaction data are graded B. Figures that appear only in third-party articles (Gusto, Pin, Treegarden, Gloroots) and that we couldn't find on rippling.com are graded C, and we kept them out of all cost calculations. Deel and Remote prices come from their official pricing pages, checked September 29–30, 2026. We have no commercial relationship with Rippling or any vendor mentioned. This article is based on research, not a hands-on purchase.
